I’m really amazed how much I like seeing this picture! Having a face to pair with the words does make me feel, somehow, more as if I know you, and it’s a satisfying feeling. And hopefully not entirely an illusion–I really appreciate how much of yourself you seem to me to bring to your writing.
Other pictures of me may be found here and here. Both of these photos were taken in 2004; the beard was shorter (I hadn’t yet begun to hang out with monks) but pretty much everything else is the same.
In The Big Book of Christian Mysticism, Carl McColman offers a thorough and engaging exploration of Christian mysticism which he defines as transformation through the Source of all Love.

I love it when they squeeze a coyote into a picture of two angels. My caption: Life Is Beautiful.
