Ron here. Excitedly anticipating starting this journey with you. I have been following, exploring and facilitating contemplative prayer practice for several years now. Experiential, creation-focused spirituality within the Christian tradition, but drawing from others. This book is relatively unknown to me, but is very appealing. Finally, I would guess that one “fun fact” about me is that I refer to myself (including to my Episcopalian rector) as an EpiscoWiccan, as I interweave the traditional and the seasonal honorings and invocations into my personal prayer practice. Fortunately, the ECA is pretty accommodating of such diversity. 😉 In any case, I feel that this course and community will be welcoming, as well as challenging, for me and will nurture my further discovery and deepening of an experiential relationship with the Divine. Hi Ron. You’re right, the Episcopal Church is a wonderful community for those who seek to integrate their devotion to Jesus with a deep dive into wisdom from other traditions.
I did my graduate study at George Mason University, so I know DC fairly well. For a few years I was a member of St. Alban’s, the beautiful little church adjacent to the National Cathedral. In fact, it was while I was in the area (I lived in Northern Virginia) that I connected with Shalem, which got me started on the path of Contemplative Christianity. So I have many fond memories of my years there (back when God was a boy, of course!).
