“Contemplative Wisdom and the Word” — In-Person Advent Programs in Hawaii

Friends on the big island of Hawai’i! Please join with me and the congregations of St. James’ and St. Columba’s Episcopal Churches for a special 3-week program for Advent reflection and prayer.

Our theme is “Contemplative Wisdom and the Word.” I’ll be drawing on material from my most recent book, Read the Bible Like a Mystic, pairing it with reflections appropriate for the holy season of Advent. The program takes place on Monday evenings (December 1, 8, and 15) I’ll be at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Pa’auilo; and on Wednesday evenings (December 3, 10 and 17) I’ll be at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Waimea. It will be the same program both nights: drawing from my book Read the Bible Like a Mystic but with a special eye to the rhythm of contemplative waiting and gentle rest that forms the character of the Advent season.
