Greetings Fellow Mystics & Sojourners,
I’m Lynn and I currently live on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia (USA) along with two lovely four-legged companions. We retired here from coastal South Carolina after the death of my beloved husband. During this period of grief-recovery, I have been graced with a deep dive into an already abundant spiritual practice where I discovered the Tarot as an invaluable bridge … connecting the inside out. This is a practice which I have kept very private, without an outlet for sharing in my new community. In meditations, I keep imaging a Tarot for Christians; one that could interface scripture & Christian practice with the archetypes who speak so eloquently through the Tarot. So, imagine my delight when I discovered MEDITATIONS ON THE TAROT: A JOURNEY INTO CHRISTIAN HERMETICISM … And it was endorsed by many trusted spiritual luminaries (e.g., Frs. Griffiths, Keating, & Pennington). Then, understand my disappointment when I ultimately shelved the book as too dense for my current practice. But Spirit is so eloquent in the paths that she weaves. So here I am now; delighted once again to reclaim this book and to have a community of like-minded folks to help with translation. What a gift! I cannot wait to begin this journey of discovery with you all. Namaste’
Lynn, glad you are here! Yes, this is the Island for Misfit Toys (ie, Christians who find nurture in the archetypal wisdom of the Tarot). There is a book coming out in September that I have had the good fortune to read already, I think people in this course will love it: it’s called The Contemplative Tarot: A Christian Guide to the Cards by Brittany Muller. MOTT is a hard book to read, but it’s worth the effort. I’m on my fourth read-through and I still don’t get all of it! But there’s so much gold that I think we can get a lot out of the book even if we don’t know all the allusions to French philosophy etc.!
