A privilege to be with you all in this adventure. I am an Episcopal priest and spiritual director who is, at the moment, taking some needed respite from Parish work to discern what is next. An abiding desire to study the mystics and contemplative writers has been in my heart for some time. When I learned this course was being offered, I was delighted. I’ve only just begun to taste the truths revealed in this book. It is like taking a chance on a new ‘dinner’ on the menu, and discovering it is one of the most delicious meals you’ve eaten for a while. I look forward to feeding this hunger within my soul over the next several months. Beginning new adventures is always exciting – maintaining and staying steadfast through the end is the harder work. May the truths revealed keep the fire of desire burning throughout. I love being with friends and family, doing jigsaw puzzles and confess, I’m an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Square that with contemplation!! Wild, but true.

This book is very much like a surprisingly delicious meal — thanks for that metaphor. It’s been so fascinating stepping out as a facilitator of MOTT — I keep having to explain what I’m doing, and why this particular book! — but it’s fun to watch how people react in positive ways when they get a taste of the book’s intellectual curiosity and sweet spirit.
