I have had interests in mysticism since the early 1980’s. I read Carl’s Big Book Of Mysticism and it has been a transforming experience. I wanted so badly to be a mystic so I took his recommendations. I now belong to a loving Catholic Community, have a spiritual director, a daily spiritual practice of centering and lectio, and am a volunteer in the Family Promise ministry. Being a mystic is no longer important to me but serving my neighbor is. Thank you Carl!
Cathy, so glad you’re here! And I just love your introduction: “Being a mystic is no longer important to me but serving my neighbor is.” Great wisdom there!!!
I think this book, MOTT, will open up an entirely new way of thinking about “mysticism” — and the adventure of loving/serving our neighbors is definitely part of the package!
