Hi everyone I’m Steve from Leeds in the UK.
A late learner, my spiritual journey began in earnest in 2006 via AA’s 12-step programme of recovery. In the last few years my appetite for deepening the principles of Christian mysticism into my everyday life has surged and Carl’s ‘Big Book of Christian Mysticism’ played a big role in that.
I only heard of the book we’re studying as recently as last week so I’m keen to find out more and to take it slowly. I’ve struggled with some of the other source mystical texts (Eckhart, John of the Cross) and although this book was written quite recently it’s time I got stuck into the original material rather than read other people’s interpretationms of them, useful as that always is.
I’m not a Christian or a church-goer (yet!) but feel a very real presence of God at work in my life and it’s that relationship I’m looking to enlarge as we go through the next few months together. I also have a well established centering prayer practice which continues to deliver positive changes to my life I could never have dared imagine.
