What is Centering Prayer?
What is the Jesus Prayer?As one who deals with ringing in my ears, I’m having an interesting (and, yes, even fun) time exploring what silence means to me….Definitely not the absence of sound! For today my definition is about silence being a ‘space’ of receptivity – a la what you said, Aida!

I’m Mary from east Tennessee. Where are you from in Wisconsin. I have relatives in Milwaukee, Green Bay and even farther north than that – Crivitz (if I’m spelling that right) Altho my Crivitz relative recently moved in more north into the UP. I found Carl’s introduction to the course to be so uplifting that I felt I had to participate. I want to experience more of that kind of ‘uplifting’ in my daily life.
I don’t have any experience with Centering Prayer, although I’ve meditated for many years and I think those practices are probably very similar.
The hope or expectation that I bring to this study?? I recently retired and hope that through this study I will be led to open my heart/mind/spirit/body to where/how God wants me to serve in the future.
